A Contemporary Design Challenge
We love a good challenge and this heavily wooded, steeply graded lot provided it. We brought in an architect with a forte in modern design and allowed ourselves to have fun with the build, bringing in elements like a spiral staircase, elevated front walkway and a modern wood burning stove.
We designed with purpose and placed the house on the lot in such a way that you could only see greenspace from each window, despite there being homes on either side.
The simplicity of the design allows the natural elements to shine, giving the feel of living amongst the trees in an otherwise urban setting.
